Selective Aggressive

As hitters, we are up there to drive the baseball and be "selective aggressive."

What do you think is the difference between contact and hitting? Let's talk!

Greg, I think a good drill you can work on to be more selective might be to look for a certain pitch.  Lets say your doing front flip and your purpose is to hit the outside pitch the other way.  Your eyes should be relaxed and ready to see the ball on the outside half of the plate.  If the ball is there hit it, even if the ball might be thrown inside on the plate which would be a strike, let it go.  Thats only strike one.  Chances are if you swing at that inside pitch when you are looking to hit the ball away, you will roll your hands and get yourself out most of the time.  Of course with two strikes on you, you need to protect the whole zone.  This will teach you to look for a certain pitch in a smaller zone to help you be more selective.

When you are working out with BP you should always try to work on something more refined than just swinging to the hit the ball. We usually start off by driving the ball the opposite way. Start there and move left over the baseball field.

I was with Coach Bent and I was being too aggresive (I swung @ almost anything). Should I be more selective?
